The European Union will provide support for urgent relief activities following the recent snow disaster in many parts of China. Initial support of around 675,000 RMB ( € 65,000) will reach two hard-hit counties of central Hunan province: Yanling and Yongshun, and will include funding of rapid restoration of electricity and drinking water and clearing of roads to distribute food and allow economic activity to resume. The support will be provided in cooperation with the State Forestry Administration through the EC-funded Natural Forest Management Project (http://www.delchn.ec.europa.eu/download/NFMP.doc).
