The Potala Palace is located on the Red Hill in Lhasa, Tibet, and lies 3,700 meters above sea level. It streches over an area of over 360,000 square meters. The palace itself is 117 meters in height and has 13 floors.
It was destroyed during the war and rebuilt again, mostly during the Dalai Lama V period. Potala became the Winter Palace of the Dalai Lama, where they live and practise their work. The Palace is the world-renowned symbol of Tibetan Buddhism. The Potala Palace is divided into the White Palace (outer section) and the Red Palace (inner section).
