Mount Emei is located in the center of the Sichuan province and its highest peak lies 3,099 meters above sea level. The distinctive landscape is covered and surrounded by an exceptionally diverse growth of plants and trees (vegetation coverage of 87%), hills, valleys, deep gullies, high peaks and waterfalls .
The eye-catching Buddha of Leshan reaches 71m high, making it the largest Buddha in the world. The Giant Buddha is carved on Lingyun Hill, east of Leshan City, which is not far away from Mount Emei. Both Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha are part of the world cultural and natural heritage property list because of their historical importance. It is also a very important area of Chinese Buddhism.
