The Global Observatory on Local Democracy and Decntralisation (GOLD) is a new portal launched by UCLG as part of its objectiveto become ´a major world source of information on local self-government, local authorities, international solidarity and the exchange of konw-how´.
GOLD provides information on the situation and evolution of decentralisation, self-government and local government across the world, and this web portal will be supplemented by periodic Global Report on Decentralisation and Local Democracy, the first of which will be published by UCLG in 2007 in time for the 2nd World Congress on 28-31 October in Jeju, South Korea.
In the current initial phase of implementation, over 1000 websites with relevant information on local government can be accessed by clicking on the links below. The portal has been developed in paternship with UCLG´s Regional and Metropolitan Sections and new links are being continually added. In the first half of 2007, the portal will be expanded to include additional search possibilities, country profiles and profiles of the members of the UCLG Executive Bureau and World Council.
