女士们、先生们、朋友们：

　　 今天，中国欧盟协会召开了第一届理事会第二次全体会议，作为该协会的名誉会长，我谨此向今天与会的全体理事表示感谢和最诚挚的祝贺，并向应邀参加今天招待会的来自欧盟国家的外交使节和各位尊贵的客人表示欢迎！

　　中欧协会自2001年11月宣布成立以来，在促进中国欧盟民间友好合作与交流方面做出了很多工作，成绩可嘉。这与中欧协会全体会员的努力和各欧盟国家驻华使团的大力支持是分不开的。

　　近年来中欧双方通过对话与合作，使双方关系步入了稳定、务实、全面发展的健康轨道。中国是世界上最大的发展中国家，欧盟是世界上一支重要的政治力量和经济实体，在国际事务中均发挥着日益重要的作用。发展中欧关系符合各自根本利益，给双方带来了互赢共荣的局面。

　　中国一贯支持欧盟一体化建设，并愿意加强与欧盟友好交往与合作，共同促进世界和平与发展。

　　不久前，中欧领导人在北京成功举行第六次会晤，为中欧关系在广度和深度上进一步向前发展提供了新的机遇。顺应中欧关系发展的潮流，中国欧盟协会应进一步发挥对欧交流渠道广泛的优势，以更大的热情积极开拓中欧民间交往的工作。我相信，中国欧盟协会将会在新的一年里，在发展中欧之间多层次民间友好交往，深化双方在各个领域的友好合作等方面做出更大的贡献。

　　最后，我祝愿中国欧盟协会的工作取得更好的成绩！

He Luli’s Speech at the Reception of the

2nd Plenum of the 1st Council of the China-EU Association

Friends,Ladies Gentlemen,

Today the China-EU Association convenes its 2nd Plenum of the 1st Council.As its Honorary President,I would like to offer my sincere thanks and congratulations to all the council members present here today,and extend my warmest welcome to the honorable ambassadors and representatives from EU countries and all the distinguished guests present at the reception.

Since its establishment in November 2001,the China-EU Association has done a lot in promoting the people-to-people friendly cooperation and exchanges between China and EU.It has made significant achievements,thanks to the joint efforts of the Association members and the generous support from the EU delegation and embassies of EU member states in China.

In recent years,China-EU relations have stepped onto a sound path featured with stable,substantial and comprehensive development through dialogue and cooperation between both sides.China is the biggest developing country in the world.EU is an important political force and economic entity.They both play a more and more signiricant role in international arrairs.The development of the China-EU relationship is in the rundamental interests of both sides and will bring about mutual benefit and common prosperity.

China has always supported EU’s endeavour towards integration and is willing to strengthen the friendal exchanges and cooperation with EU,so as to promote world peace and development.

Not long ago,Leaders of China and EU successfully held the Sixth China-EU Leader’s Meeting in Beijing,providing new opportunities to the development of a broader and deeper Sino-EU relationship.In light of the flourishing China-Eu relations,the China-EU Association should further bring into play its advantage of having broad channels of communication with EU,explore new areas of people-to-people exchange between China and Europe with greater passion.I believe in the new year,the China-EU Association will make more contributions to developing the multi-level friendly exchanges and strengthening cooperation in various fields between China and Europe.

In conclusion,I wish a greater success in the work of the China-EU Association!
